What the buyer is asking for

Statsbygg constructs the new Life Sciences Building (LVB) for the University of Oslo and Oslo University Hospital on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Research and South-East Health as the co-contracting authority. The building shall be the workplace for approx. 1,600 employees and 1,600 students. Start up for the excavation and ground work was the second quarter of 2019 and the planned completion is at the end of 2026. Various professional environments shall work multi-disciplinary here to develop new solutions for major challenges within health and sustainability with access to the best and most modern equipment required to carry out world class research, teaching and innovation. A complete system for material characterisation under controlled low-temperature and magnetic-field conditions, not requiring an external supply of liquid He. The system will be used for measurements of physical properties in the whole temperature range of at least ≤2 K and ≥300 K and at magnetic fields from 0 T up to at least 9 T. The samples will be in the form of single crystals, polycrystalline materials, powders, pellets, solid pieces and thin films, and can for example be metal oxides, inorganic materials, alloys, nanoparticles, intermetallic phases or metalorganic complexes and frameworks (MOFs). The intended applications include measurements of magnetic properties, electrical conductivity and specific heat capacity, where each measurement is estimated to be performed during a few hours, or in some cases, up to 1-2 days. The system will be used for both scientific and educational purposes, by users with varying levels of experience. The tender includes options for maintenance agreements and extended warranty period.
